307 Days To The Mountain – Parkers Climb Kathadin On YouTube

Monday morning after being on vacation is never an easy day!! The day started out as most regular Monday mornings. I climbed out of bed, showered, and dressed for work.

I cannot say that I was overly excited to go back to work this morning. Not because I do not love my work, I do, Really! You see, normally, I have kept up with emails and stayed on top of pending work related matters while out on vacation, just to ease the pain of that Monday morning return.

This trip was different. I did not check emails, I did not . . . → Read More: 307 Days To The Mountain – Parkers Climb Kathadin On YouTube

308 Days To Mt. Kilimanjaro – Reflection After The Kathadin Summit

It is Sunday morning and Geoff, Greg, and I are making our way towards home from Maine. George, Larri & Maddy are driving back to Boston and George IV has already made his way home to Vermont. I have such mixed emotions for the week to end. This was a special week, for many reasons.

I thought climbing Mount Kathadin would make my voice for Parker’s Climb much louder. Believe it or not, initially, it somewhat took my words away! I have spent the last couple of days just reflecting on the climb and trying to get my emotions reined . . . → Read More: 308 Days To Mt. Kilimanjaro – Reflection After The Kathadin Summit

Mount Katahdin Conquered!

They made it! Here they are at the top! 7 hours to climb the Hunt Trail. It was more physically challenging than any of us ever imagined. It was a 5.2 mile climb, 4,400 ft vertical climb. The descent was almost as physically challenging taking them another 6 hours to travel down 5.2 miles. From Pam – “My husband is the most awesome person I know! When I was struggling, he carried my back pack and his backpack to give me a rest!”

Congratulations Team. Such an awesome way to kick off the weekend. #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item {

Pam & Geoff Went Up The Hill To Fetch A Cure For Parkinson’s

Ok so I’m not the world’s greatest nursery rhyme writer. But I do know a good fairy tale when hear one. Last November I had the very fortunate opportunity to join a group of wonderful people in South Florida to start on an amazing business journey. This journey (hopefully a very long and lucrative one) introduced me to an extraordinary person. Let’s call this person “Moxie”. So here’s Moxie, a seasoned executive with great presence, style and grace. Someone I immediately knew I wanted to build something great with. I’ve had some amazing mentors and coworkers over the years and . . . → Read More: Pam & Geoff Went Up The Hill To Fetch A Cure For Parkinson’s

312 Days To The Mountain – Millinocket, Maine

I slept like a baby last night, deep in the woods, on Lake Millinocket. The only noise to be heard was the squeaking of the antique bed I slept in,  each time Geoffrey or I turned.  I awoke to the sound of a sea plane flying over and landing in Lake Ambejijus which surrounds us on the other side.

Geoff & Pam In Maine at Lake Millinocket

What a wonderful day we had in Millinocket today.  We started out at The Pellatier Restaurant for open-faced turkey sandwiches.  I learned during lunch that Geoffrey’s mother’s sister, was married to a Pellatier. . . . → Read More: 312 Days To The Mountain – Millinocket, Maine

313 Days To The Mountain – The Big Moose Inn & Colby College

It is a great feeling to know The Parker Family is making our way towards Maine! Greg, bless his heart, wins the award for the longest travel.  He came in from San Diego, flying first to Denver, then Philadelphia and on into Bangor.  He was waiting for us with open arms when Geoff and I arrived in Bangor.

Our flight was over an hour late leaving Ft. Lauderdale.  We flew to New York and had a tight connection into Bangor.  We arrived 15 minutes before our flight was due to leave. I had already checked to find out if we . . . → Read More: 313 Days To The Mountain – The Big Moose Inn & Colby College

314 Days To The Mountain – If The Creek Don’t Rise

As always,  life can throw a few last minute curves at even the most prepared travelers!   Geoff and I have had our share of “life’s little challenges” in our final weekend before leaving for Maine. I worked in the office today  for my usual nine hours, and really have done everything at home – oh yeah, with the exception of packing!

We awoke  early and started the morning with an air conditioner on the blink.  Since the temperatures are in the high 90′s it is not possible to endure even a day of this.   Fortunately our friend . . . → Read More: 314 Days To The Mountain – If The Creek Don’t Rise

315 Days To The Mountain – The Fox Foundation Funding Important Research

This has been an exciting week for positive medical research information being reported for Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease. Even though the two are not specifically connected, I continue to read that a breakthrough in either disease could open the door to finding the cure for other neurological diseases. ********************************************************

August 18, 2010 The New York Times printed the letter below from Katie Hood, Chief Executive of the Michael J. Fox Foundation. To the Editor:

Biomarkers’ role in early diagnosis is more widely understood than is their critical importance to drug development. Biomarkers are the key missing link in researchers’ . . . → Read More: 315 Days To The Mountain – The Fox Foundation Funding Important Research

316 Days To The Mountain – 5 Days To Mt. Katahdin

Well, I took a little Italian hiatus (at least in my mind) over the past few days. Writing about Italy has been fun – I got to look through our photos each night as I selected them for the post. The photos always bring back good memories. It reminds me of a time when we lived life just a little more freely perhaps. There was no grey cloud in our lives, nothing that made us question the future.

Our November 2005 trip to the Chianti region of Italy was the last trip abroad that Geoffrey and I took before Parkinson’s . . . → Read More: 316 Days To The Mountain – 5 Days To Mt. Katahdin
