DAY 3: July 6, 2011: This morning Team Parker hiked across the Shira Plateau past the Shira Cathedral towards Moir camp, tucked away at the end of a huge gorge, at the foot of a giant lava flow. Climb time today is 7-8 hrs going 5.7 miles and 13,650 ft. Tomorrow is a new day and the 7th Anniversary of Pam & Geoff. Wishing you many years of happiness. Love & Prayers to all !!
DAY 2: July 5, 2011: Today Team Parker left the glades and started their climb towards the heath and moorland zone. They will cross into the Shira Caldera, a high altitude plateau, very different from the rain forest. Shira is the third of Kilimanjaro’s volcanic cones and is filled with lava flow from Kibo Peak. Today, Team Parker got their 1st close view of Kibo (the summit of Kilimanjaro). Climb time today has been 7-8 hrs covering 4.5miles at 11,500ft. Below is a picture of Pam with David, he is instructing her how to “pole pole” which means SLOW. Please pray for the Parkers as they head into DAY 3.
DAY 1: July 4, 2011: Today Team Parker started their climb. Tonight they are sleeping in the rain forest at Mti Mkumba (Big Tree). Wishing you a great day tomorrow as your proceed on this journey. Happy 4th of July..Hope it was a Bang!!
